|| Day 2-4||
Recap of day 2 -4. The last couple days have kind of been a blurr, between middle of the night wake ups for medicine & giving medicine around the clock to making sure hes eating and drinking something. The drinking fluids had been a big thing so he doesnt get dehydrated. To reminding him he cant be playing rough and jumping around. He doesnt quite understand why he cant be out riding his bike or playing and running with friends.
All the days have been very similar. Hes good when we can stay on top of his medicine and making sure they are overlapping. Which Im not crazy about BUT when one wears out hes in pain and then it takes him a bit to calm down. Hes been napping every day 2-3 hours, which has to be so good for his little body so it can heal. The second night we were up with him 2 times and the 3rd night we were up with him once. And all the nights he actually woke up in pain so we then have to talk him into taking the medicine.
For some reason, its been a “fight” to get him to take his medicine. He hasnt been wanting too which in the past we have had no issues. So switching up the childrens Tylenol to the chewable to see if that helps!
Food wise: He has still be eating mostly soft foods, but has been eating fruit like melon & watermelon. He also ate mac & cheese on sunday for supper. Tonight he ate broccoli as well. Slowly working on trying more solids to see how they go.
He also did alot of playing today (monday which is day 4 post op). He was playing outside in the pool and running around in the yard. We have been doing daily walks but he has been riding his motorized jeep like I said before. And still lots of movies! Definitely more than usual. He seems to know when he needs to rest and will ask to watch a show.
I have heard days 5-7 can be worse as the scab from the tonsils fall off opening up the sores again! So Im not looking forward to that at all! But he still has been saying his throat is sore when his medicine is wearing off. So it will be intersting to see what he says it feels like when that scab falls off!
OH also, he sounds so different! Very nasally & has alittle lisp because of the tongue tie release which has made his tongue kind of swollen. So know that nasal voice is normal! I think my biggest tip is just to make sure you stay on top of medicine. We are still giving him something every 2-2.5 hours. And alternating childrens motrin and tylenol!
||TIPS||
